Tripadvisor Award

January 20, 2010 0 Comments » Uncategorized

We have just returned from our first holiday for a while to discover that we have been listed in the top ten Traveller’s Choice 2010  Europeans’ Favourite Hotels on Tripadvisor. Needless to say, as a small hotel, we are really pleased to be listed at number seven and very very  grateful to all the guests who provided feedback on the Tripadvisor site. In common with a lot of small businesses, 2009/2010 is a hard time for us all, so this award is a great encouragement for us and a wonderful start to the New Year.

One of the best small hotels in Wales – 2009

We were one of only three couples who made it through the snow for the Christmas Break at this hotel. Jo and Henrique made it feel almost like a private party. The friendliest of service, top quality meals with lots of choice. Log fire in the bar. We stayed in room 5.very comfy with a great sleigh bed. Almost expected Santa to take us away xmas eve!

Outstanding -  2008

‘My wife chose the Castlebank hotel as the setting for our first Xmas away from home and we decided to take my mother and the inlaws along with us too. We found the hotel on the internet and naturally were quite apprehensive as to what to expect from this step into the unknown. We needn’t have worried because as soon as we stepped through the door, each of us knew this had been an outstanding choice.

The welcome at reception is warm and genuine and the hotel radiates a cosy atmosphere and is certainly not stuffy or overbearing. The rooms are comfortable, well attired and most have a splendid view of the castle and harbour. The food is excellent and comes in generous portions – maybe even over generous – but there were certainly no complaints from our party.

Outside of our group, the other guests were visiting for a second time and some were even more ‘frequent visitors’. Such loyalty is well deserved as the owners – Jo and Henrique – have succeeded in developing a very relaxed atmosphere which few other hotels we’ve visited can emulate. We therefore felt very lucky to secure the remaining few rooms that were left over Xmas and would definitely recommend this as a venue for other visitors to Conway.

We hope to return sometime soon’

Castlebank ‘Portrait’

On her last visit a regular guest, Mrs Moy, presented us with a beautiful watercolour of the hotel. It was a lovely surprise  as she hadn’t told us she was painting it. We are very proud to display the painting in the entrance hall opposite the reception desk. Conwy has a well visited art gallery, the Cambrian, as well as a local potters gallery and an art shop with a local artist in residence – Jean Morgan Roberts. We have some of Jean’s work displayed in the hotel, as well as other  scenes from local artists and old photos of the area. Mrs Moy’s painting is a treasured addition to our display.
