Hotel Access and Public Areas

Castlebank Hotel is situated in its own grounds on a steep incline off Mount Pleasant.

Access to the hotel grounds is provided via a public car park. The hotel has it’s own car park surrounded on all sides by gardens. From the car park, the entrance to the hotel is accessed via a flight of 13 stone steps with a handrail, which brings you to the garden terrace, followed by a flight of 6 stone steps with a handrail. There is one further shallow step into the porch.

There is a moderately steep stone ramp with hand rail at the side of the car park, which also brings you to the garden terrace, followed by a flight of 6 stone steps with a hand rail, and one further shallow step into the porch.

It is possible to access the hotel via the dining room fire exit door, which is approached via the garden terrace and 7 small stone steps.

The hotel is entered via a narrow hallway/reception area. On the ground floor there is a small resident’s lounge, a bar/lounge area and the dining room – which are all on one level.

There are toilets for resident’s use situated down a wide flight of 12 steps, underneath the dining room.

Due to the layout and age of the building (it is Grade 2 listed) we regret we have no ground floor bedrooms, ground floor public toilets or a lift.

Assistance with your luggage is always available

Bedrooms

The bedrooms on the first floor are accessed by a shallow flight of 12 stairs which are fairly wide, followed by a further 4 shallow steps.

Room 1 is situated at the top of the first flight of stairs, but please note it has 3 steep steps outside the door.

The bedrooms on the second floor are accessed via a further flight of 13 fairly wide steps and 3 further steps.

Room 6 is at the top of the second flight of steps and is accessed via 3 further steps.

At present all the bedrooms have compact ensuite shower rooms. The shower rooms on the first floor have a small step up to them. The shower rooms on the top floor are on the same level as the room.

The only exception is room 4, which is a small single room at the front of the hotel on the first floor. This room has a private bathroom with shower, bath, sink and toilet at the opposite end of the first floor landing. There is a hand basin in the room itself.
